Goals

Promotion of sports and a healthy lifestyle among the Ukrainians

Problem

In Ukraine, only 13% of the population are involved in sports, whereas in Finland this figure is at 52%, in Australia: 46%, in Canada: 39%, in France and Great Britain: 24% and 21%, respectively.
Only one in 50 Ukrainians takes part in sports competitions, and only one in ten children aged 6–18 attend childrens’ or youth sports facilities.
This is a relatively low level of physical activity, causing disease and deterioration of health of the population, especially the young people.
Today, Ukraine needs comprehensive programs for promotion of sports and healthy lifestyle, as well as investments into development of sports.

Decision

It is widely known that professional sports and a healthy nation are impossible without development of sports for children and young people.
In the 1990s, the Obolon Corporation started its cooperation with Zmina Sports School for Children and Young People, which currently has 735 students.
After some time, sports became a priority direction in the company’s CSR strategy.
In 1992, the Obolon-Zmina soccer club was established at the school and started its participation in the Championship of Ukraine.
Since 1996, Obolon is a permanent sponsor of the club.Today it is a club with a rich soccer history, participating in the National Championship of Ukraine under the name “Obolon-Brovar”, with several Zmina alumni playing on its first team.
As a part of sports sponsorship, Obolon sponsored national soccer championships of Ukraine twice, in 2009 and 2010.

Resulit

Today there are 1,680 sports schools for children and young people in all Ukrainian regions. Over 720,000 people aged 6 to 18, or 9.5% of all young students, take part in the sports education and training there.

«Оболонь» provides financial, material, and resource support to the sports establishment.

The participation of Obolon-Brovar Football club in the Ukraine Soccer Cut motivates the young people and fans to go into sports and serves as a good example for the trainees of Zmina Sports School. For instance, in 2013, 9 Zmina alumni entered the Obolon-Brovar team.

In 2012
the Obolon Arena stadium

had a status of the European Championship training field.

Today persistent efforts are being made to encourage children for physical training and sports, and to promote a healthy lifestyle. The school system performs the selection of gifted children and gradual specialization of young athletes for participation in international sports events and their further transition to the professional sports system.

Obolon Brovar has a modern stadium, the Obolon Arena, which had the status of a European Championship training field in 2012. Today the stadium is also a venue of mass sports events for the company employees.

Charity, Volunteering, and Social investments

Since its establishment and till this day, Obolon Corporation has been maintaining and developing the charity and volunteering traditions. Each year, Obolon makes investments into the regions where its companies are located, implements initiatives of social importance, and supports the partners by funding and product donations. Since 1994, the Obolon Corporation is a member of the Ukrainian Quality Association, and since 1998 a member of the Quality Leaders Club of Ukraine. Recycling of PET packaging

In 2013, the Obolon Corporation reduced its production waste levels by 48.5%. Among other things, this was achieved due to comprehensive recycling of used PET packaging.For 12 years, Obolon has been running the waste plastic packaging recycling project.The collection of used bottles, reduction of emissions, and reduction of energy consumption help Obolon significantly reduce its environmental impact.More
Brewer's grain recycling

Responsibility is the foundation of the Obolon Corporation’s environmental policy. In addition to the reduction of environmental footprint, the organic brewing waste recycling technologies allow Obolon supply highly nutritious feedstock to agricultural companies.Besides, such production is a source of additional income for the company.More
Employee reintegration

The Obolon Corporation is one of the largest Ukrainian taxpayers.Its companies employ over 5,000 people, about 5% of whom have children under 6 years.In order to ensure comfortable working conditions and help combine the professional and family responsibilities, in 2013 Obolon joined the “Back to Work” employee reintegration project.More
